Data Deletion Request
Overview
Opal Technologies, LLC ("Opal") is committed to giving you control over your personal data. This page explains how to request deletion of your data from the Opal platform, what happens after you submit a request, and what information we may need to retain for legal or accounting purposes.
How to Request Deletion
You have three options:
Option 1: Cancel from inside the app (fastest)
If you have an active Opal account, the fastest path is to cancel from within the application:
- Sign in at app.myopal.io
- Go to Account Settings → Billing → Cancel Subscription
- Follow the confirmation prompts
Cancelling your subscription automatically initiates the data deletion process at the end of your current billing period. You will receive a confirmation email when your cancellation is processed.
Option 2: Email Us
If you cannot access your account, or if you prefer to submit a written request, email info@myopal.io with:
- Subject line: "Data Deletion Request"
- Your full name
- The email address associated with your Opal account
- A clear statement that you wish to delete your account and all associated data
We will verify your identity (typically by replying to the email address on file) and confirm receipt within 5 business days. Verified deletion requests are processed within 30 days.
Option 3: Exercise Your Statutory Rights (California, EU, UK)
If you are a resident of California (CCPA/CPRA), the European Union (GDPR), or the United Kingdom (UK GDPR), you have additional statutory rights to deletion. Submit a request to info@myopal.io as described in Option 2. We will respond within the applicable statutory window (typically 45 days for CCPA, 30 days for GDPR / UK GDPR).
What Gets Deleted
Upon a verified deletion request, the following data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days:
- Your account profile (name, email, password hash)
- Business entities, locations, and team members you created
- Dashboard configurations, custom KPIs, and saved views
- AI-generated insights, Daily Pulse briefings, and recommendation history
- AI chat conversation history
- Integration credentials, access tokens, and synced data for any third-party services you connected (such as QuickBooks, Stripe, HubSpot, Shopify, Slack, Meta, Google services, Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Notion, Airtable, LinkedIn, Calendly, and other supported integrations)
- Audit logs and login event history
- Support conversations and feedback submitted to Opal
What We Retain (and Why)
Certain limited information must be retained even after account deletion in order to comply with legal, tax, accounting, and fraud-prevention obligations:
- Billing and transaction records — retained for 7 years as required by U.S. federal and state tax law. This includes invoices, payment records, and chargeback history. These records are stored by our payment processor, Stripe, and by Opal for accounting purposes.
- Anonymized aggregate usage statistics — usage data that has been irreversibly stripped of personally identifying information may be retained indefinitely for service improvement. These records cannot be re-associated with you.
- Records subject to legal hold — if Opal is subject to a subpoena, court order, or active legal investigation involving your account at the time of your deletion request, we may be required to preserve the specific records covered by that order until released by the relevant authority.
Timeline
| Step | Timing |
|---|---|
| You submit deletion request | Day 0 |
| Identity verification + confirmation email | Within 5 business days |
| Data queued for deletion | End of current billing period (active subscription) or upon verification (email or cancelled-account request) |
| Permanent deletion from production systems | Within 30 days of queueing |
| Deletion from system backups | Up to 90 days (backups are overwritten on a rolling schedule) |
Data Held by Connected Third Parties
Opal connects to third-party services (such as QuickBooks, Stripe, HubSpot, Meta, Google, and others) on your behalf. When you delete your Opal account, we delete your integration credentials and synced data from our systems. However, the underlying data in those third-party services remains under your control with those providers. You will need to contact each third-party service separately to delete data held by them.
For Meta / Facebook-Connected Accounts
If you connected your Opal account to Meta (Facebook Login, Facebook Pages, or Meta Marketing API), deletion of your Opal account will:
- Permanently remove your Meta access tokens from Opal's systems
- Sever Opal's authorization to access your Meta data
- Delete any Meta-sourced data we previously synced (ad performance, campaign data, audience information, etc.)
To revoke Opal's access from Meta's side, visit Facebook Settings → Business Integrations and remove Opal from the list. To delete data held by Meta about you separately, contact Meta directly through their privacy controls.
Deletion Is Permanent
